My Story

How I Began and Where I’m Headed

This part of my journey began when my daughter and I were living in a small town in Oregon. I didn't grow up in a strong community, so my default setting was to try and figure out everything on my own. Having been a single mom some years before solidified that belief by a thousand. But by some grace life was about to show me how things could be different. Our school community was already one of a kind, with very involved and caring parents, helping each other out and being an invaluable resources for all things considering child and parenthood. This was the first time I experienced true community and what such a particular kind of care and holding space could do for an individual. The first girl and boy groups came on my radar when my daughter turned eleven. They were offering a safe space to learn, talk, giggle and voice fears and concerns about puberty. Almost as important was the parent education part that was going hand in hand with it. It helped facilitate communication pathways  between parents and children during this crucial time where the child is faced with the first winds of adulthood and starts the process of breaking off from the parent(s).  On the other hand it also provided parents with tools and information on how to help their teen and themself thrive during this change.

We heal in community and we need community to thrive and become a whole individual. I hope to provide with these groups a safe growth space for our girls, and pay forward to parents that which was offered to me so freely.
